(Vol. 1, No. 1, November 1975)
by Hunter B. McMullin, President
Welcome to the entire Wings’ organization and the 1976 Bicentennial year sports “happening” of Philadelphia.
During the past months, many of you responded to our invitation to become an active part of our organization by forwarding to me written suggestions or ideas concerning any aspect of our team. To those of you that have…we thank you…they were great. To those of you who haven’t…we encourage you to do so. The success of our venture is directly related to our cohesiveness. We are a family and intend to act like one.
Much concern has been expressed about the possibility of the Wings changing its name. Please let me assure you that the likelihood of this occurring is remote, but if it does happen it won’t be until after considerable thought has been done and that such a change would assure us of a continuation of “pro” lacrosse as a viable entity. Obviously, such an entity is only as successful as the revenues and, if a name change means a full Spectrum, then in behalf of the sport, it is worthwhile and can be substantiated. Personally, I feel it would be like moving Mt. Everest.
We are committed to bring Philadelphia a WINNER and with everyone pulling their own weight—WE WILL. Our joint effort will produce for the entire Philadelphia Sports Community the city’s only “affordable” winner.
Let’s keep the channels of communication open, for ours is a TOTAL effort.
