(Volume 1, Number 2—May 1974)

The Wings were off to a slow start this season. Perhaps it is advantageous to begin a long season at a slow pace. It seems to be paying off for the Wings at any rate. Trying to find the right combination of lines in a team consisting of 16 veteran players, 9 rookies and 2 trades from other teams isn’t any easy task. Putting it all together takes time; luckily the Wings have plenty of it. Coach Jim Hinkson is doing a marvelous job with the team. For a new coach to come in and establish a relationship with 27 players is a chore in itself. Changing the status from player-friend to coach-boss appears to be even more difficult. Whatever Jim Hinkson is doing, he’s doing it well. Keep up the good work, Jim, you’re here and what’s more important, you’re respected by all.
