Toronto Tomahawks’ Chuck Li has been selected as the first segment winner of the Labatt’s Toronto Tomahawks’ Outstanding Player Award.
Li finished first among all Tommies players accumulating 14 points over Toronto’s first five home games.
For his efforts Li was presented with a cheque for $200, compliments of Labatt’s Ontario Breweries Limited.
Li was selected as the top player by a panel of local press attending each Tomahawks’ home game.
In his first eight games thus far Li has scored 14 goals and assisted on 20 others for 34 points.
Based on a 5-3-1 point system for first, second and third star Li picked up his 14 points on two first place finishes, one second and one third selections making the three-star ballot in four of five games.
Behind Li in the point standings were: Joe McCrea (7), Ziggy Musial (6), Bob Haw (5), Bob McCready (5), Duffy McCarthy (4), Brian Thompson (3) and Brian Wilson (1).
The player who accumulates the most points after each of the four remaining segments will also be awarded $200.
The player picking up the most points throughout the regular season will be awarded an additional $1,000 and the Labatt’s Most Valuable Player Award.
